Team Development Programs

Below is an example of some team development programs that we run either as standalone workshops or as part of a broader team development program. Every workshop is customised to your team’s specific expectations, needs and outcomes and if there is a need for a workshop that doesn’t yet exist, one can be designed around the team’s unique situation.

All workshops are experiential because we learn more effectively by doing and discovering our own solutions to our issues or challenges. Below each of the program headings is a high level overview of content. For a full agenda we would work together to tailor and customise what you really want and need. We work together to develop the specific objectives and outcomes of each workshop and agree the commitment to follow through.

essentials of effective communication
The foundation for any relationship is rapport. Run either as a one or two day workshop we rediscover the basics of communication from many perspectives. Using the principles of NLP (neuro linguistic programming) we look at the benefits and results of taking responsibility for our communication, how to actively listen with our body and mind and experience communication from the perspective of our clients, partners or associates. An absolute must for anyone in a service-lead business.

eliminating business tolerations
This is about creating and developing open and honest inter-team relationships. Set in a safe and confidential environment, we uncover and address what the dripping taps and squeaky hinges of your business are. Using a tried and tested process which we openly share with you, we take a sample of existing tolerations and show you how to address and eliminate them (or in some exceptional cases learn to live with them) freeing you to focus your energy and attention on the key performance indicators that matter.

principles of high performing teams
When teams find themselves in trouble, often it’s a challenge to get back out of the ‘hole’ because something is missing – the ‘identity glue’ that holds them together. Anyone can have a set of values e.g. a violent gang may agree never to ‘grass’ on a gang mate. Principles however are the moral glue to which all team members can turn when faced with difficulty, making decisions, developing solutions and handling conflict. Using a facilitated process, teams develop their own set of guiding principles that become the foundation of their charter of behaviour and their common standards for high performance.

team identity - exploring team mission, vision and values
Hand in hand with ‘Principles of high performing teams’, the team identity program is a collective effort of establishing the purpose of the team’s existence. We drill down until we get to the ‘core’. To use an example, we worked with a small business that sold domestic burglar alarms. When we continued to drill down as to their purpose, we moved from “we install intruder alarms” to “we give people complete peace of mind in their homes”. What is the team’s vision? What are they capable of achieving that lies as yet undiscovered? What are the set of values by which they can hold themselves and one another accountable?

from push to pull – creating the desire to learn (train the trainer)
Aimed at those in a position of training and developing others, this ‘train the trainer’ workshop turns traditionalism on its head! Sometimes, standard in house training programs fail to deliver the desired results with participants relating to the sessions and ‘dull and boring’ and let’s face it, sometimes we need a miracle to make the next session of the IT system upgrade training scintillating and captive!  Here we take a deeper look at preferred learning styles and how we can adapt our style of delivery to maximise the learning experience and inclusion. We invest quality time in learning about the impact of our physical environment on learning and explore some of the qualities and traits of highly effective trainers.

team leader as coach
Increasingly and especially in small to medium sized businesses, the role of team leader is one of an all encompassing, multi tasking, multi skilled super hero! With a full workload to consider, the team leader/supervisor is often also the team coach. Many a time they have been promoted into the role because they excelled in performance as a team member.  However all too often they find themselves in a position of leadership without the toolbox and frustration and a sense of alienation can prevail. This program looks in detail at motivation and how we are all motivated by different things. We look at practical leadership skills from the perspective of juggling many balls at once and finding the right balance between familiarity and authority.

you've got personality - exploring the 'I' in TEAM

We are all different, there's no getting away from it. Teams don't magically come together and live happily ever after; like a garden they need nurturing and sometimes a little pruning! Part of that nurturing process involves digging a little deeper into the world of personality type and 'peeling back the layers of the onion' so that we understand ourselves and our colleagues better. What makes us tick? What are our stress triggers and the most effective strategies for coping with stress? How do we prefer to work with information, interact, make decisions, organise ourselves and re-charge our batteries? Using the highly engaging, easy to understand and visually appealing AUSIDentities personality profiling system, you can accelerate your team's development and effectiveness and watch the lightbulbs of understanding glow!
